While the entire world is again under the fear of COVID-19, Chinese singer Jane Zhang has recently been making news for intentionally injecting herself with COVID-19 for the strangest of reasons. She later apologized after social media users panned her for her bizarre actions. The development comes after Zhang took to social media platform Weibo, and announced infecting herself with virus in preparation of New Year’s Eve concert.
Taking to Weibo, Jane Zhang Liangying said, “I was concerned that my condition during the New Year’s Eve performance would be affected. So I met a group of people who tested positive since I currently have time to recover from the virus.”
Naturally, Jane started exhibiting symptoms which included fever, body aches, and sore throat. She proceeded to sleep, and as per her claims, recovered from the symptoms within only a day. She explained that although her symptoms were similar to COVID-19 patients, they didn’t last long.
Social media users in China, who are already facing the wrath of the virus, didn’t take too kindly to Jane’s brash actions. They panned her left, right and centre, for getting infected with COIVD-19.
Jane later took to her social media and wrote, “I didn’t consider things carefully before making my previous posts. I apologise to the public.”
