Hours after the Dantewada Maoist attack that killed at least 10 cops, a disturbing footage has surfaced on social media, capturing the trail of chaos and carnage in the immediate aftermath. The video of the footage has been making rounds of social media, and many news outlets have claimed that it is an exclusive footage they acquired, including outlets like NDTV and News18.
In video shared by ANI, a policeman is seen seeking cover behind a vehicle, taking aim and firing back at the insurgents. In the background, the harrowing sounds of gunfire resonate, as a person is seen crawling to the side of the road. A thin wire-like object, believed to be the IED’s wire, lies across the street, and a voice can be heard exclaiming, “Udd gaya, poora udd gaya (blown off, completely blown off).”
The officer who filmed the incident spoke exclusively to NDTV, stating that they were on an anti-Maoist operation when the attack occurred. The targeted vehicle was third in the convoy of seven, and all the occupants of that vehicle were killed.
The security forces have raised questions about security lapses in the aftermath of the attack. However, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has vowed to eliminate Naxalism, declaring that the fight against Maoists is in its final phase.
