In Kerala, the celebrations of Argentina’s world cup win over France triggered spurts of violence, resulting in the death of a teen and injuries to several others. As Messi led his Argentinian teen towards its third World Cup win, and scored two crucial goals, matters got awry in Kerala. What started off as mere celebration of Argentina’s win, ended with several people getting injured, and some miscreants being arrested.
In one of the incidents reported from Palliyamoola, fans of France were allegedly taunted by the Argentina fans, and soon both the sides clashed and had a physical altercation. Six persons were taken in custody after they clashed with each other, causing nuisance and injuries. In two separate incidents in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, cops were assaulted as they tried to control the chaos spilling on the streets after Argentina won the world cup.
In another separate incident, 17-year-old Akshay celebrated the Argentina victory, and later reported feeling unwell. He passed out at the Kollam Lal Bahadur Shastri staidum, and was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Earlier on Sunday, Argentina defeated France 2-4 in the penalty shootout after the match ended with a 3-3 tie after the 90 minutes play and 30 minutes extra time.
