In the Nepal plane crash tragedy, at least 16 people are reported dead with several more feared dead. A plane with 72 passengers crashed recently with the final moments of the ill-fated plane crash surfacing on social media recently. The hair-raising video of the tragedy shows the plane descending rapidly without control and a huge sound of impact being heard after the plane crashed.
The ATR 72 aircraft from Yeti Airlines with 72 passengers, including four crew personnel, crashed earlier on Sunday in Nepal’s Pokhra, sometime around 11 am. Less than an hour after the plane crash, the Nepal Army spokesperson told media that at least 16 people are confirmed dead, with personnel conducting a search and rescue mission.
The flight took off from Kathmandu, and was flying for Pokhra when about 20 minutes after the take-off, it descended rapidly, and crashed a few kilometers from destination. The Yeti Airlines plane crashed into a forest area near the Seti Gandaki river that flows between an old airport and the new Pokhra International Airport.
Earlier in May 2022, a small plane with 22 passengers on board crashed near Lete hill in Nepal as well. The country has reported 27 fatal plane crashes in 30 years, of which 20 have occurred in the last 10 years.
